Stockyards Station presents Frontier Forts Muster

eventdetail

The 16th annual Texas Frontier Forts Muster is a two-day heritage event where the Stockyards National Historic District is transformed into an authentic representation of Texas frontier life.

The Texas Forts Muster celebrates the heritage of Texas’s Frontier fort settlements, like Fort Worth, concentrating on the years from the early Republic in 1836 to the closing of the frontier and settlement of the late 1800s. The camps, soldiers, Native Americans, settlers, and weaponry all reflect the region’s vast expanses of open land, when most of Texas was unsettled and the big cities were generations in the future.

Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards will be lined with encampments of historic fort sites from the Texas Forts Trail and elsewhere in Texas. Approximately 10 forts and related programs will participate in the event. Designed to highlight frontier-era life, Frontier Forts Muster brings together authentic wagons, flags, music, colorful uniforms and military gear from Texas landmarks, military marches, infantry and artillery demonstrations, and more.

On May 13, there will also be a historical marker dedication ceremony in front of the Cowtown Coliseum at 11:30 am and a special parade celebration recognizing the 150th Chisholm Trail Anniversary following the 4 pm cattle drive.
