You're probably already familiar with Mistletoe Heights, Fairmount, and Oakhurst, but data pulled from the last year has revealed the newest most popular neighborhoods in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Ranked by the percentage of homes that sold above list price, the report was compiled by real estate website and all-in-one home-selling platform Bungalo. Only neighborhoods with 40 or more transactions in the past 12 months were eligible for consideration.
So — drum roll, please — the most popular neighborhood of 2019 was Trailwood, located in Grand Prairie. Homes in the 75052 ZIP code sold for 58 percent above list, with a median closing price of $188,800.
Second and third place are both in Fort Worth: Meadow Creek (76123) at 47 percent above list and a median closing price of $179,000, and Lasater (76131) at 46 percent above and a median price of $218,900.
Fairfield in Arlington (76018) actually tied for third, also at 46 percent, but its median price was much lower at $181,250. Rounding out the top five are Foster Village (76148) in Watauga (45 percent above, median price of $195,000) and Marine Creek Estates (76135), also in Fort Worth with 44 percent above and a median price of $199,000.
What does this mean for house hunters in DFW? That buying in the suburbs is your best bet, especially if there's easy access to downtown.
Even better news is that homes in the hottest neighborhoods across DFW still go for much less than the national median home price of $282,000. You can easily save $100,000 just by buying in Fairfield or Meadow Creek.
