Fort Worth Botanic Garden makes delicious updates to 2025 Xmas show
A popular Fort Worth holiday light show returns for 2025 with a whole new look. Called Christmas in the Garden, it's a self-guided trail of light displays and holiday music at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, which will debut on November 21.
The event replaces Lightscape, an international holiday light tour that FWBG hosted from 2022-2024, in partnership with Sony Music.
For 2025, organizers promise a more traditional Christmas feel.
"We listened to our guests, and they were clear – they wanted a Christmas experience,” says FWBG president and CEO Patrick Newman. “That's why we've given the event a merry makeover and renamed it ‘Christmas in the Garden.’"
The Lightscape holiday light show is an international installation which started at the Royal Botanic Gardens in London in 2014 and has since appeared at botanic gardens across the world. Fort Worth was its only location in Texas.
Some have praised Lightscape's artistic merit while acknowledging that its "reflective ambience" could be a challenge for young children to absorb.
The FWBG and Sony Music are just giving it a tweak.
New installations will include holiday-centric features such as the Candy Cane Tunnel — "a multicolored dreamland of swirls"; the Magic Ribbon Tunnel, intended to mimic cascades of colorful ribbon on a giant gift box; Christmas Tree Grove; and visits from Santa Claus.
They'll also bring back Texas-themed features including dancing bluebonnet lights, the gingerbread walk with Texas-inspired nutcrackers, Christmas light-wrapped cactuses, and a giant illuminated Texas flag.
Food
One major change for 2025 is the food. Where previously the food offerings were handled by FWBG, this year they'll introduce a new program in partnership with Westland Hospitality, the restaurant group behind JD’s Hamburgers, Margie’s Italian Gardens, Pulido’s Kitchen & Catina, Magdalena’s, and Curly’s Frozen Custard. Special offerings inspired by each concept will be available for purchase along with beer, wine, and spirits as in years past.
While the menu is being finalized, highlights so far include sliders, charcuterie boxes, and hot cocoa frozen custard topped with a giant toasted marshmallow created exclusively for the event, along with specialty popcorn flavors including Magdalena’s ancho chocolate, Margie’s truffle parmesan, JD’s dill pickle, and Pulido’s pecan praline.
Christmas in the Garden runs from November 21, 2025 – January 4, 2026. Tickets are on sale now and advance purchase is recommended as each night has limited capacity. Prices vary by night, peaking at $32 for an adult and $22 for a child, down to $20 on off nights. Entry times are available every 15 minutes from 5:30 to 9 pm, and organizers suggest allowing 90 minutes to partake in the full experience.
Parking onsite is $25 per car, with Dickies remote parking available on certain nights.
