Dallas-Fort Worth Airport adds 4 new international destinations
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will be getting a smidge more international with the addition of four new international destination cities from its major airline, plus an increase in the number of connecting options for travelers.
American Airlines is adding a total of 12 new destinations, including four cities in Latin America. They're also increasing flight frequencies, which will strengthen DFW's status as a global superhub, providing a growing network of destinations and convenient connections for customers and cargo.
New international service on American Airlines from DFW Airport includes:
- Durango, Mexico
- Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
American also will serve eight new domestic destinations, including:
- Augusta, Georgia
- Gainesville, Florida
- Yuma and Flagstaff, Arizona
- Bakersfield, Monterey, and Burbank, California
The airline will launch all four international flights in early June of 2019. The domestic flights to Harlingen, Augusta, Gainesville, Yuma, and Bakersfield will begin in March 2019. The flights to Monterey, Flagstaff, and Burbank will start in April 2019.
With these additions, DFW Airport will offer airline service to 244 destinations worldwide, including 62 international destinations.
"These new destinations demonstrate the strength of the North Texas market and the power of the American Airlines superhub at DFW, which is the largest in their system," says DFW VP John Ackerman. "Building our domestic network, which is now the largest in the United States with 182 destinations, supports our current international service and positions DFW well for additional global connections in the future."
American will also bolster its existing service between the U.S. and Mexico, with additional frequencies to six cities it already serves, including Guadalajara, Leon, Querétaro, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, and Puerto Vallarta.
DFW already connects more travelers between Asia and Latin America than any other North American airport. This additional service from American make DFW even more more more than it already is.
