Tony Tarrant County town deemed one of America’s 10 best small cities
North Texas cities always do well on surveys of the best places to live, and a new report places one tony Tarrant County town in its top 10. WalletHub recently released its 2016 list of the best small cities in America, and Southlake ranks No. 10.
Not too far behind are Collin County’s Allen, at No. 23, and Wylie, at last-but-certainly-not-least No. 30.
For its rankings, WalletHub analysts compared 1,268 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000. They looked at data across five key areas: affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Among the 30 key indicators of livability are housing costs, school-system quality, number of restaurants and bars per capita, and crime rate.
In terms of affordability, Southlake is right up there, ranking No. 4 in lowest housing costs. It tied for fifth in highest percentage of residents with a least a high school diploma. Naturally they are smart if they choose to live in Southlake, right?
Another great small city in Texas? Cedar Park, near Austin, which comes in at No. 16.
