The Kimbell Art Museum will present the free film series, "Bellotto in Context." This film series is presented in conjunction with "The Lure of Dresden: Bellotto at the Court of Saxony."
"Bellotto in Context" chronicles the cultural histories that helped to shape the career of the Italian painter Bernardo Bellotto. Documentaries narrated by Andrew Graham-Dixon provide context for Bellotto's Dresden sojourn, tracing the history of German art and its enduring fascination with landscape, folklore and national identity. The last film, Exhibition on Screen: Canaletto and the Art of Venice, features Venice's illustrious view painter, Antonio Canaletto, Bellotto's uncle and teacher.
