McDonald's opens first Texas CosMc's beverage spinoff in Dallas-Fort Worth
McDonald's is spinning off a new concept called CosMc's focused on beverages, and is opening its first location in Texas in Dallas-Fort Worth.
According to a release, the "small format beverage-led concept" opened near Richardson at 6033 Campbell Rd. in North Dallas on March 19.
This is only the second location, following an original that opened in 2023 in Bolingbrook, Illinois in 2023. But they plan to open nine additional "test and learn" locations across DFW, including at least one location rumored to be opening in Fort Worth, and San Antonio in the coming months.
While media likes to pit every drink concept against Starbucks, the menu at CosMc's seems to be more in competition with Swig, the drive-through drink chain with fruity lemonadey beverages founded in Utah in 2010.
To wit, the drinks available at CosMc’s Dallas include:
- Sour Cherry Energy Burst
- Churro Cold Brew Frappé
- Island Pick-Me-Up Punch
Also like Swig, the ability to customize your drink is touted.
Beyond beverages, there are a few sandwiches: Spicy Queso with sausage, and Creamy Avocado Tomatillo with bacon, and Egg McMuffins. Other menu items include McPops, a filled fried dough already served at McDonald's, plus soft pretzel bites, hash browns, and desserts.
It also has soft-serve, available in cones, sundaes, and a selection of Blizzard-like McFlurry shakes in flavors such as Oreo and M&M's.
For the DFW debut, they're adding two more menu items, as described in the press release:
- Beach Protein Frappe: a breezy blend of banana flavor and protein-packed whipped indulgence
- Melon Herb Chiller: a fusion of watermelon and mint flavors paired with lemonade and an invigorating arctic kick
The Campbell Road restaurant has drive thru, counter service, and walk-up ordering, and takes over a space that was most recently a Bahama Bucks shaved ice, but was previously a location of Dunkin' Donuts.
