HCK Hot Chicken is a new Nashville-style hot chicken concept that just opened its first location in Texas in Fort Worth, at 6600 N. Fwy. #128, at the northeast corner of 35W and Western Center Boulevard. Based in Virginia, HCK Hot Chicken is a veteran-owned, minority-owned, and disabled-owned concept that specializes in Nashville-style sandwiches and chicken tenders with four spice levels. Other menu items include loaded fries, chicken & waffles, and loaded mac & cheese topped with chicken. Bringing HCK to Fort Worth are husband-and-wife franchisees Billy and Carla Zenn. There are two other locations in Florida and New Jersey.
Jakes Burgers & Beer, the massively popular chain with burgers and beer, is getting closer on the opening of its location in Aledo, at 601 FM 1187, in a cool building that has been home to a variety of services including a dentist office and a law firm, and was at one time home to a Pete's Deli. Founded in 1985 by hamburger guru Jake Keller of Keller's fame, Jakes preceded the "better burger" trend by making a burger that was better than fast-food, with attention to detail like hand-cut fries. There are Jakes locations in Dallas, Flower Mound, Fort Worth, Frisco, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, and Mansfield.
Barley is a new food truck created by the team at Rye in Dallas that has opened at the Martin House Brewing Company in Fort Worth. The menu includes green chile queso, battered fries, loaded fries, Wagyu meatballs, hmm so far no vegan items, cheese curds, and chicken nuggets. They're open Wednesday-Friday 4-8 pm, Saturday 12-8 pm, and Sunday 12-5 pm, including a brunch on Sunday with chilaquiles verde, breakfast tacos, waffles trio (3 waffles, dressed in 3 different ways), and a Breakfast Power Bowl.
Twilite Lounge Fort Worth is now serving food from JesCrave, the caterer and food truck from partners Janette Carillo and Jessica Chavez, known for their street tacos, guisados, posole, tamales, and other top-notch Mexican food - replacing Twilite's previous Cajun menu of blackened catfish po’ boys and other NOLA fare. JesCrave took over the Twilite kitchen on July 25 and will make it their new headquarters. They'll still be set up at Basic Bar on 904 Houston St. Wednesday-Saturday nights, and at Twlite, they'll be open Tuesday-Thursday 5-10 pm, Friday 4 pm-12 am, Saturday 12-3 pm / 5 pm-12 am, and Sunday 12-3 pm / 5-10 pm.
Flip's Patio Grill has a new burger of the month for August: the New Mexican Hatch Chile Burger, highlighting Hatch chile peppers, grown in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico and cultivated in August and September. It features Flip’s 50/50 brisket-chuck blend, American cheese, bacon, and Hatch chile sauce. At both Fort Worth 6613 Fossil Bluff Dr. and Grapevine 415 W State Hwy.
Fish City Grill and Half Shells have two chalkboard specials available throughout August: Jalapeno Bacon Mahi Tacos, featuring Mahi Mahi, jalapeños, bacon, chipotle aioli, and Cuban black beans and rice for $15; and Miso Glazed Black Cod with bok choy, sugar snap peas, and white rice for $27.
Hopdoddy has revealed their August Burger of the Month: The Bodega Burger, inspired by a New York bodega, wrapped in deli-style paper and topped with chopped cheese patty, bread & butter pickles, spicy ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and doddy mayo.
Pokeworks has a new bowl featuring lobster, with surimi, Mandarin oranges, veggies, and Ponzu sauce over white rice, $14 for regular, $17 for large, available through October 3 at its seven DFW-area locations in Southlake, Arlington, Addison, Dallas, and Richardson.
Bonefish Grill has a Snow Crab entrée with a pound of snow crab legs and a choice of two sides for $25, available until September 4.
Cotton Patch Cafe has a new "10 Under $10" value menu featuring junior portions of iconic dishes like chicken fried steak, chicken & dumplings, and meatloaf, perfect for a quick lunch.
Salata has added Spicy Shrimp to its ingredient lineup, and brought back a seasonal topping for summer: Watermelon. Spicy Shrimp follows Salata's addition of Angus beef steak last summer. Get them in two new salads: Spicy Shrimp Salad and Baja Watermelon Salad featuring beets, cucumber, jicama, edamame, cilantro, and feta cheese.
Fuzzy's Taco Shop has a new limited-time "Dip Trippin’ Trio with three full-sized dips: fire-roasted arbol chile salsa, guacamole, and queso with pico de gallo. Priced from $10 to $13, depending on location, through September 4.
Freebirds World Burrito now has Prime Rib as a protein for any entrée, burrito, bowl, salad and more at all 64 locations across Texas while supplies last.
