Each September Historic Fort Worth, Inc. celebrates the connection between art and architecture through the talent of studio artists at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.
The 2019 honoree, Gene Owens, is a talented sculpture artist who received a B.A. from Texas Wesleyan University and an M.A. from the University of Georgia. Mr. Owens' sculpture has been commissioned and exhibited by numerous individuals and institutions. He drew inspiration from his association with the Fort Worth Circle, a talented group of artists who painted, sculpted and traveled together from 1940-1960.
The 2019 featured artist is Devon Nowlin, who speaks of her paintings as layered, not only in terms of the applicationĀ of paint, but also in regard to overlapping forms and pictorial elements that seemingly appear and disappearĀ across the surface of a canvas.
The exhibit will feature over 60 artists with over 350 artworks. Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through September 26.
