Swept Off Your Feet
Heed these romance tips from Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna
Spring is on its way and Valentine's Day is just around the corner. While a surefire way to impress your sweetie is with tickets to Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna, the jaw-dropping show is more than just a feast for the eyes.
Romance abounds when a ship full of men washes ashore on an island governed by women, and a special spark ignites between the ruler's daughter, Miranda, and one brave young sailor, Roméo.
Here are a few tips to help keep your own flames burning, inspired by the magic and beauty of Amaluna:
Remember your manners
Miranda's childhood nanny Maïnha is just as astonished when the men arrive and is especially taken with Roméo's manservant, Yurick. Showing he knows how to treat a lady, Yurick is sure to present his new sweetheart with flowers and treat her like a queen.
Don't be afraid to try something new together
It's proven that novelty strengthens relationships, so remember to alter your routine from time to time. Not only is Amaluna Cirque du Soleil's only show with a predominately female cast and an all-female band, it's also the first time that the company has featured the uneven bars. And just when you thought Cirque couldn't get any more amazing.
Always have each other's backs
Though Miranda's mother, Prospera, ordered the storm that brought the men to the island soon after daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, she knew there would be obstacles for the young couple to tackle. Luckily they have help from the island's Amazons, strong warrior females who are ready to protect the lovers at all costs.
Find the time to dance
In the midst of all this madness, Yurick and Maïnha are still enjoying their own sweet courtship. Whether going all out with dramatic ballroom moves or just swaying to the beat together, take their cue and rediscover your partner's rhythm.
Cirque du Soleil has always celebrated the amazing feats that (some very talented and trained) bodies can do, but everyone is capable of making an impact with the smallest touch. Be like Roméo and Miranda, Maïnha and Yurick, and happy couples everywhere by holding hands or going in for a kiss.
