New theater-brewery brings movies and beer to Fort Worth suburbs
Flix Brewhouse, which is based out of Round Rock, Texas, is making another foray into the Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs, with a new location coming to Mansfield. The beer-loving cinema will serve as an entertainment anchor at a new complex called The Shops at Broad, at U.S. 287 and East Broad Street; it's slated to open in 2018.
Mansfield joins a forthcoming location in Little Elm, north of Dallas, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in early 2018. Despite now having only eight locations, Flix has planted its flag in multiple states, with outlets in Round Rock; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chandler, Arizona; Carmel, Indiana; Des Moines, Iowa; and Madison, Wisconsin.
Flix bills itself as the world's only combination first-run cinema and dine-in microbrewery, offering the latest Hollywood blockbuster movies along with craft beer brewed on the premises. They brew nine of their own beers, and also offer 38 other beers on draft.
The Mansfield location will house eight auditoriums equipped with state-of-the-industry technology and extra-wide plush recliner seating. Similar to Alamo Drafthouse or Studio Movie Grill, Flix promises unobtrusive in-theater service where guests can order from a complete cooked-to-order menu.
They also offer events like a Pro-Am homebrew competition, Brewmaster dinners, and on-site brewing and tasting seminars, as well as special themed movie events.
The Shops at Broad is a mixed-use development with retail, restaurants, sports facilities, hospitality, and multi-family housing units. Other initial tenants include Belk, Academy, At Home, Starbucks, and Corner Bakery, with plans for a Dallas Stars Center and Fieldhouse USA, the latter of which is already open.
