Fort Worth's acclaimed Heim BBQ brings bodacious brisket to Burleson
Tarrant County has scored another place to get great BBQ: Fort Worth's Heim Barbecue is opening a new location in Burleson, at a new project in the city's Old Town development.
A developer named BTX Old Town plans to double the size of Old Town's core by adding 50,000 square feet of retail, office, and restaurant space in what's called the Ellison Street project.
Heim Barbecue is their first tenant, going into a location at 135 W. Ellison St. Way to start strong.
Burleson City Council approved a public-private partnership with BTX at its December 16 meeting.
Travis and Emma Heim started their business from a food truck in 2014, then opened their first storefront on Magnolia in Fort Worth. They have since opened locations in the River District in Fort Worth and in Dallas near Love Field Airport.
Burleson Mayor Chris Fletcher says in a statement that they're excited to bring about the new development, saying, "We look forward to welcoming Heim Barbecue to Old Town, as we continue our goal to bring great places to eat, shop and work to our city."
Some city staff will also move into the new development which the release says will provide a better customer experience for development and utility billing customers.
Burleson city manager Bryan Langley says the city is proud to partner with the BTX Old Development Group. "Their vision for the development will complement much of the work that has been done recently in Old Town, and we are excited about the prospect of bringing additional restaurant, office and retail tenants to the city," Langley says.
This project includes new sidewalks, parking lots, lighting, and landscaping.
Construction is set to begin in early 2022, with completion in the first quarter of 2023. So it's a ways away.
