Recently reduced Overton Park home fuels Fort Worth’s midcentury mania
The for-sale home at 3705 Fox Hollow St. has three things going for it: a refreshed midcentury design, a location in the Fort Worth’s hot Overton Park neighborhood, and a price reduction of $34,000.
That means 2,572-square-foot home is now on the market for $615,000. It comes with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, plus a clean-lined, opened-up contemporary interior that provides sightlines from front to back.
Firm817 gets the credit for the transformation, having added planes of color and expanding the sense of interior with material and mirrors. Williams Trew listing agent Joseph Burkes says that “midcentury mania” has been raging for some time now.
“Whether seen in the popularity of Mad Men or vintage furniture reissues, people are clearly digging the architecture and design of the era,” Burkes says. “With clean lines, open plans, and strong connections to the outdoors, midcentury modern homes are striking, often sublime.”
Although the home’s roots are midcentury (built in 1958), the update is decidedly current. The kitchen here is a standout, with an abundance of white, flat-front cabinetry; soft gray Silestone countertops; Miele appliances; large island; and built-in wine fridge. Isn’t the latter a necessity these days?
The kitchen opens into the dining and living areas, each with original terrazzo tile. The master bedroom grants the homeowner access to the patio through glass doors. A thoughtful master bathroom allots separate space for showering, soaking, and sprucing up.
Although the interior is splendid, the patio is unforgettable, with a wood-and-metal awning, contemporary ceiling fans, and grilling station that looks more like a piece of furniture. Plus there is wiring for an outdoor TV.
A handsome horizontal fence gives the space the privacy it needs to host TCU tailgates without disturbing the neighbors.
Other priceless perks include its being zoned for Tanglewood Elementary School and the neighborhood’s large central park and tranquil river setting.
