What: North Texas Community Foundation ToolBox Grants Celebration
Where: Fort Worth Club Bistro Room
The 411: The North Texas Community Foundation gathered together fundholders, nonprofit representatives, and community partners to award nearly $316,000 in grants to 33 Fort Worth-area nonprofits at this annual celebration.
A program called "ToolBox Grants Program: Building Nonprofit Capacity to Combat Poverty in Our Neighborhoods" aims to help nonprofits strengthen their organizations through leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and better operational efficiency. The grants focus on nonprofits serving the neighborhoods with the highest poverty levels in Tarrant County: Western Hills (Las Vegas Trail), Como, Diamond Hill-Jarvis/Northside, Morningside/Butler Place, East Seminary/Wichita Street, Stop Six, and East-Central Arlington.
“The North Texas Community Foundation’s fundholders are intent upon making our region strong for generations to come,” said Rose Bradshaw, foundation president and CEO, who welcomed guests at the reception. “We chose combatting poverty as the focus of this ToolBox Grants Program because City of Fort Worth and Community Foundation data show that families in specific neighborhoods are disproportionately impacted by lack of access to education, health, income, and employment resources, which has a direct impact on their economic well-being."
Grants Committee members Adelaide Leavens, Michael Appleman, and Becky Wilkes presented grant checks to the nonprofit recipients. The 33 recipients included CASA of Tarrant County, Community Hospice of Texas, Tarrant Literacy Coalition, Fort Worth Drowning Prevention Coalition, JPS Foundation, The Ladder Alliance, Trinity Habitat for Humanity, Community Food Bank, Live Thankfully, and many more.
Since its inception in 2010, the ToolBox Grants Program has provided more than $2.4 million in grants to more than 100 nonprofits serving Tarrant County.
