Cliburn in the Community presents Peter Klimo
The Cliburn in the Community program is a community outreach effort to provide free live classical music performances to a broader audience. This week, Peter Klimo, second prize winner at the 2014 International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, is being showcased. He'll play the second of two concerts at The Gallery at the Fort Worth Central Library on Thursday.
Broadway at the Bass: Kinky Boots
The great thing about theater is that you never know what will resonate most with critics and audiences. That a musical about a shoe factory owner and a drag queen teaming up to make thigh-high stiletto boots could win the Tony Award for Best Musical and draw in huge crowds is proof of just that. The national touring production, with music from Cyndi Lauper, will play at Bass Performance Hall through Sunday.
Amphibian Stage Productions presents Freud's Last Session
The final production of Amphibian Stage Productions' 2015 season is a fictional look at a day-long meeting between legendary psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and a young C.S. Lewis. Freud and Lewis clash about love, sex, the existence of God, and the meaning of life in the production, which will run through November 22.
Friday, October 30
SiNaCa Studios' Pride of Southside Homebrew Invitational
As the craft beer movement has taken off in the last decade, so has homebrewing. SiNaCa Studios will celebrate the art of the homebrew with this special competition, with the winner having the opportunity to brew his or her beer at Chimera Brewing Company and enter it into the 2016 Great American Beer Festival pro-am category. There will be free beer samples for everyone 21 and older.
Fort Worth Museum of Science and History presents Reel Adventures: Harry Potter
Four years after the release of the final movie and eight years after the publication of the final book, Harry Potter fever doesn't show any sign of waning. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is celebrating this longevity with special events featuring Potter-themed experiments and a screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in the Omni Theater. The event will repeat on November 7 and 14.
3rd Annual Night of the Living Dead Composers
If you're looking for a different kind of Halloween season party, Open Classical's costumed classical variety show is for you. Taking place at Live Oak Music Hall, the event will feature quirky costumes, chamber music, and opera tunes with an eerie vibe.
