Amateur BBQ chefs who want to earn bragging rights and prize money can enter the Foreman’s Backyard BBQ Competition at the Bedford Blues and BBQ Festival. Cooks will square off using their skills and mass market grills (no competition smokers allowed) in the contest. Participants will compete in two classes, chicken and ribs, using a modified version of the Kansas City Barbeque Society rules. The top three competitors in each division will receive cash or a trophy. A special $200 prize and “King of the Backyard” trophy will be presented to the Grand Champion.
The Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival runs throughout Labor Day Weekend. Headliners Dr. John and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue lead an all-star lineup of talent playing on two stages at the outdoor venue across from the Bedford City Hall Complex.
