Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., which started the North Texas craft beer movement in the fall of 2004, will celebrate its 12th anniversary with an extended tour & tasting event. The brewery will also release a commemorative beer in November.
The beer, Zwölfjahre, which means 12 years in German, is an American Wheatwine aged for 12 weeks in cabernet wine barrels with cherries. It is produced with a blend of German and American yeast and features a significant amount of wheat with hints of citrus hops. It will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on tap around Dallas-Fort Worth. Zwölfjahre will debut on tap at the brewery’s 12th anniversary extended tasting event. Attendees will receive a commemorative pint glass to sample a selection of more than 60 beers, including several rare and limited release varieties such as Bourbon Barrel Aged Regulator and 2014 Midnight Cab. The event will feature live music from local bands and food trucks.
VIP tickets include early access, a t-shirt, food voucher and VIP area access with additional specialty beers. Regular admission will be limited to 1,000 pre-sale tickets.
