Masterpieces from Studio Ghibli will feature an all-Ghibli festival, showcasing seven films from the animation masters who founded the studio - Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.
All films will be introduced by Dr. Marc Hairston, a research scientist at the University of Texas at Dallas. A professional space physicist, part-time anime scholar, and Fort Worth native, Hairston has hosted annual Japanese animation festivals at the Modern since 2012.
Cinephiles who plan to enjoy the weekend’s entire selection of films will receive a discount for pre-purchasing all of their tickets at once. The Modern Shop will feature items from Studio Ghibli productions during the festival.

- August 9: Castle in the Sky (4 pm) and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (7 pm)
- August 10: My Neighbor Totoro (11 am), Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1 pm), and The Boy and the Heron (4:30 pm)
- August 11: Kiki’s Delivery Service (12:30 pm) and Spirited Away (3 pm)
