Sing Out
3 tuneful crooners set for Casa Mañana's spring 2020 cabaret series
To round out its 2019-2020 season, Casa Mañana has announced the three performers who'll be headlining the spring cabaret series.
Spencer Day, Taylor Rodriguez, and Carole J. Bufford will take over the 70-seat Reid Cabaret Theatre within Casa Mañana for three very different solo shows.
Broadway Reimagined: Spencer Day has the No. 1 Billboard jazz/pop singer and songwriter putting a fresh spin on classic Broadway tunes. Imagine a swinging up-tempo version of "On the Street Where You Live" from My Fair Lady, a rhythmic take on "One" from A Chorus Line, "I Don’t Know How to Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar with an Ennio Morricone bolero twist, and "If I Loved You" from Carousel as a bossa nova. It runs February 12-15, 2020.
A Tribute to the King: Taylor Rodriguez is a collection of Elvis Presley's greatest hits: "Hound Dog," "Love Me Tender," "Jailhouse Rock," and more. Rodriguez has played Elvis in many productions of the musical Million Dollar Quartet and in 2017 was named one of the top five Elvis tribute artists in the world. In 2019, he was crowned the Tupelo Elvis Festival Champion and most recently, Rodriguez was named the 2019 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises. His show runs March 24-28, 2020.
Come Together: When the '60s Meet the '70s: Carole J. Bufford explores the ever-changing music industry from 1965-1975. With music made famous by Cher, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, Dusty Springfield, Otis Redding, Linda Ronstadt, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and more, Bufford's soulful vocals and insightful stories about the songs and artists will take you right back to one of the most exciting, controversial, and impactful 10 years America has ever seen. It runs April 28-May 2, 2020.
Ticket prices start at $45 and may be purchased by visiting www.casamanana.org or the theater's box office at 3101 W. Lancaster Ave.
