Lousiana-based fitness clubs train their sights on new Dallas-Fort Worth locations
A new fitness concept from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has big plans for Dallas-Fort Worth. Regymen Fitness aims to open more than two dozen clubs around DFW within the next three to six years.
Regymen's approach personalizes workouts for each member, setting fitness goals that are practical to their lifestyle and challenging them "to become a trendsetter." It claims each 60-minute class can burn up to 1,000 calories.
"Our goal is to be the first name that comes to mind when potential studio members think about group fitness," says Regymen Fitness president Tom O’Keefe.
Regymen Fitness relies on theatrical lighting, energetic music, and large screens to guide members through a wide range of exercises. Inside the studios — which range in size from 2,400 to 3,600 square feet — you'll find 12-14 stations with assault bikes, dumbbells, battle ropes, ski ergs, and kettlebells.
Its three major approaches are burn (an even split between cardio and weights), box (similar to traditional boxing and kickboxing), and build (using sleds, tires, ropes, and bars).
Regymen plans to open 18-22 clubs in Dallas-Fort Worth, and is specifically focusing on more suburban areas, eyeing real estate and franchise partners in Southlake, Grapevine, Highland Village, Plano, Carrollton, University Park, and Preston Hollow. The clubs are expected to bring up to 300 new jobs.
DFW won't be the first Texas location, however. Multiple outlets in Austin are planned, with the first scheduled to open in November 2019.
