Trinity Metro TEXRail sets new ridership record in December 2025

Lots of people used TEXRail in December 2025.
Officials with Trinity Metro TEXRail say the commuter line set a new monthly ridership record with 129,115 rides in December 2025 – a 25 percent increase over December 2024.
According to a release, the growth can be attributed to many factors, including "enthusiastic travelers who enjoy the ease and convenience of traveling to their favorite destinations by rail."
It's the second year in a row they've set a ridership record in December.
Since beginning operations in January 2019, TEXRail has provided a public transportation option between Fort Worth and DFW Airport’s Terminal B with multiple stations along the route in Fort Worth, North Richland Hills and Grapevine. Christmas activities in Grapevine and holiday travels to the airport also contributed to record ridership.
"Trains arrived filled with families and couples using the convenience of TEXRail,” says Paul W. McCallum, executive director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, in the release. "We’re thrilled to see more people experiencing TEXRail and seeing just how easy it is to safely arrive at Historic Main Street without the drive, making the ride part of the fun."
Adds Ken Buchanan, executive vice president and chief revenue Officer for DFW Airport, "Peak holiday travel places unique demands on airport infrastructure, and the continued growth of TEXRail ridership shows the value of giving travelers more choices. During the airport's busiest travel periods, public transportation plays an important role in improving the customer experience by reducing congestion on the roads and at the terminal curbs."
In addition to the December record, the release says, ridership increased for the last quarter and the full 2025 calendar year. When comparing passengers carried for October, November and December to the previous year, the total ridership was almost 14 percent higher. Ridership for calendar year 2025 was up 12 percent over 2024.
