Live action gaming venue Activate gears up for new Southlake location
A new, live-action arcade venue is preparing to level up Southlake’s gaming world. Activate, a high-tech, immersive gaming facility, will open at 2717 E. Southlake Blvd. #180, taking over a former gym space.
According to a release, Activate will open April 12.
The indoor venue combines technology and physical activity in 75-minute gaming sessions, which can be played in teams of two-five people. There are a variety of gaming rooms — with options like basketball, digital dodgeball, and laser tag — with over 700 levels for players to compete, earn points, and track their progress online.
Players enter a room, pick a game (each game lasts one-three minutes), and choose a difficulty level between 1-10 before their session starts. The games are mostly adult-focused, but children 13 and younger can play with adult supervision.
Activate was founded in 2019 and currently has 10 locations across several states. They made their Dallas debut in Plano in 2023, and the Southlake venue is their second North Texas location.
“As we expand our immersive experiences across the U.S., Southlake is the perfect place for us to invite new players into the dynamic world of Activate,” marketing director Will Gray says. “The experience is like no other and we look forward to entering this fantastic new market.”
Southlake currently has few to no arcade experiences, but there are several nearby venues, such as Northern Lights Arcade and Main Event in Grapevine, WhirlyBall LaserWhirld of HEB and Fixation VR in Hurst, Electric Starship Arcade in Haltom City, and Dave & Buster’s in Euless.
Activate in Southlake will be open Monday-Thursday 10 am-10 pm, Friday-Saturday 9 am-11 pm, and Sunday 9 am-10 pm. Tickets cost $25 Monday-Thursday and $30 on Friday-Sunday. Reservations are encouraged.
