Beer-loving veteran to open Voodoo Brewing brewpub in Fort Worth
A Pennsylvania-based brewpub is debuting in Fort Worth: Called Voodoo Brewing Co., it's a chain founded in 2005 and is opening south of downtown at 1001 S. Main St., near Rosedale Street, in the former Four Sisters space.
Voodoo Brewing Co. was founded in Meadville, a small town north of Pittsburgh and home to Allegheny College. They opened their first taproom in 2012, and now have outlets in Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas, including Grand Prairie which opened in 2023 and Plano, which opened in spring 2024.
They're known for their creative craft beer and classic pub fare, such as a giant pretzel with beer cheese.
Bringing Voodoo to Fort Worth is David Goldblatt, a first-time franchisee who ventured into franchising after 21 years of active military service. He retired from the service a year ago.
"I live in Fort Worth, I was stationed here when I was in the Marines," he says. "I met my wife who was born and raised here."
Once he tried Voodoo Brewing's beer, he wanted to invest and bring it to Fort Worth. He hopes to have it open in July.
"I was drawn to Voodoo Brewing because I love the atmosphere, and of course, the beer," he says. "The one thing that makes this concept special is the individuality they allow you bring to the table."
Although a franchise, Voodoo stands out by allowing each location’s owner to customize their pub with a unique aesthetic and personalized menu additions.
The company brews its beer in Pennsylvania, then ships it to franchisees. Their nine flagship beers include:
- Good Vibes: West coast IPA with tropical fruit notes
- Where Our Secrets Go: Dark ale with caramel and crystal malt
- Lacto-Kooler: Green sour ale
- Voodoo Love Child: Pale, dry beer with cherry, raspberry, and passion fruit
In addition to the flagship options, franchisees can choose from special seasonal beers.
There's food as well: wings, sandwiches, salads, pizzas such as the voo-dill pickle pizza, a mushroom and Swiss smash burger, and beignets.
