Help ID sexual assault suspect who impersonated Fort Worth officer
A woman was sexually assaulted on February 18 by someone impersonating a police officer, and now detectives from the Fort Worth Police Department are asking for public assistance in trying to track the perpetrator down.
According to a report from the police, on February 18 at approximately 8:15 pm, a woman was driving a maroon Dodge Ram pickup truck and traveling on Loop 820 near Team Ranch Road.
She noticed a black Dodge Charger directly behind her pickup truck. The Charger had a white spotlight mounted on the driver's side door, and a red flashing light attached to its roof.
Assuming it was a police officer trying to stop her, she pulled over onto the northbound shoulder at the Team Ranch Road exit.
The black Dodge Charger stopped behind her truck, and a male got out and approached the victim. He told her to get out of her vehicle and walk over to the passenger side of the Charger. That's where he sexually assaulted her.
The police provided a description of the suspect as a male, race unknown, but approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build.
He wore a dark-colored jacket and dark-colored "jogger-style" pants tucked into white high-top Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers. He has a Southern accent.
His Dodge Charger is black with four doors, tinted windows, tinted "black out style" rear tail light covers, black rims on its wheels, and a Texas license plate attached to its rear.
The Charger has a police-style white spotlight connected to the front driver's side.
This is apparently not an unprecedented scheme; Wichita experienced a similar scenario in which at least one male driver in a black Dodge Charger accosted a woman in 2011.
Anyone who recognizes the car or the suspect, or may have witnessed this incident take place is asked to call 817-469-8477.
