PBR World Finals kicks off in Fort Worth with glamorous awards gala

The 411: The 2022 PBR World Finals kicked off its Fort Worth run with a glittering gala on Thursday, May 12. The organization welcomed local officials, as well as all of the competing riders and stock contractors for the 100+ bulls selected to buck at the event, to walk the black carpet and then enjoy a night of live music, awards presentations, and more.
PBR CEO and commissioner Sean Gleason welcomed the glamorous crowd. After the 40 competing riders were introduced and received their coveted PBR World Finals jackets, the 2022 Golden Barrel Awards were handed out; winners were Frank Newsom (Best Save of the 2022 season), Stetson Lawrence (Best Celebration), Joao Ricardo Vieira (Best Winning Ride), and new world No. 1 Daylon Swearingen (Breakthrough Performance and Seven Seconds of Agony).
The 2022 PBR Mason Lowe Award was given to the bull rider who earns the highest-scored ride at the PBR World Finals, Jose Vitor Leme.
Fort Worth is hosting the PBR World Finals for the first time, May 13-22. Over two weekends, the top bull riders in the world are comping for the championship, the coveted gold buckle, and accompanying $1 million bonus.
