Among your choices are a festival for movie lovers, the kickoff of an annual holiday event, a concert from a 1960s-era singer, a performance by everyone's favorite comedian/country music singer, and a chance for runners to show us what they've got.
Below are the best ways to spend your free time Thursday through Sunday. Want more options? Lucky for you, we have a much longer list of the city's best events.

The event will go on through January 1.
Magnolia at the Modern: Viceroy's House
New nations are rarely born in peace. Viceroy's House is set in India in 1947, where Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville) is dispatched, along with his wife, Edwina (Gillian Anderson), to New Delhi to oversee the country's transition from British rule to independence. With sumptuous period detail, director Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) brings to life a pivotal historical moment that reshaped the world. The film will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Peter Noone in concert
Peter Noone is best known as the lead singer of the 1960s pop group Herman’s Hermits. The group had numerous hits, including "I'm Into Something Good," "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat," "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter," "I'm Henry VIII, I Am," and "Listen People," among others. Noone will perform a retrospective of Herman's Hermits songs at Arlington Music Hall.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Enigma Variations
Australian conductor Nicholas Carter leads the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in English composer Edward Elgar’s storied Enigma Variations, 14 charming and vivid sketches of his friends and acquaintances, including the “Nimrod” variation. The concert, at Bass Performance Hall through Sunday, will also feature Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis and pianist Behzod Abduraimov performing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Jubilee Theatre presents Saturday Nights Sunday Mornings: The Story of Al Green
Al Green was torn between two worlds: One filled with sex, drugs and rock & roll, the other filled with the expectations of being the son of a preacher. This one-man play with music is about the life of the soul singer and his battle with self-discovery, on the road to his ultimate redemption. What do you choose when you’re self-righteous on Sunday after being in the den of sin the night before? The production by Jubilee Theatre will play at Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

Shop Small Fort Worth Holiday Market
Shop Small Fort Worth gives local craftsmen, artisans, and small businesses an open forum to sell, advertise, and offer their services. This market is a chance for buyers to shop from these artists and locally owned businesses, but it's more than just a market. It’s a day of networking, fun, food, and entertainment that emanates the love the people of Fort Worth have for all things local. The market will take place at The 4 Eleven on Saturday and Sunday.
Rodney Carrington in concert
There are many entertainers who try their hand at multiple disciplines, but Rodney Carrington might be the only country music singer/stand-up comedian working today. Much of his material, which includes six albums dating back to 1998, is of the, shall we say, dirtier variety, making him an acquired taste. Carrington, who just released the Netflix special Here Comes the Truth, will perform at Will Rogers Memorial Center.
Sunday, November 12
2017 Fort Worth Marathon
Now that the temperatures have cooled down, it's marathon season once again. The annual Fort Worth Marathon allows runners to take on multiple distances, including the full 26.2 miles, 20 miles, or 13-mile half marathon. The event, which starts and ends at Panther Island Pavilion, helps to raise funds for the Run Like a Cheetah program, an organization dedicated to ending childhood obesity in Tarrant County. There will be two cheer areas for spectators: One at Tilly Bridge off of Forest Park and one across the street from Hoffbrau on University Drive.
