“First Come First Serve” is Fort Works Art’s most experiential exhibition to date, featuring an eclectic mix of 2D and 3D contemporary artworks pulled from an open call for submissions and accepted under the first come first served premise until the gallery reached capacity.
In line with the gallery’s mission of serving as a high-profile platform for artists in all stages of their careers, this innovative show brings together an energetic combination of both undiscovered talents and seasoned veterans. The egalitarian nature of the exhibition, which provides a unique opportunity for artists to introduce themselves and their works to audiences, some for the very first time, was met with an overwhelming response and brought in more than 300 submissions from local and national artists. From the submissions, more than 100 works have been accepted for exhibition and include everything from (paintings to mixed media projects, sculptures, other genres). And, due to the free-form nature of its curation, the show boasts a remarkable variety of artistic styles.
The "First Come First Serve" exhibition will also include a second, complementary show in FWA’s satellite gallery. Featuring the work of the inspiring urban artist Alex Genovez, aka “STALE,” the satellite space will be transformed with his distinctive graffiti art. His captivating wallscapes are layered with elements of 2-dimensional collage and illustration and will create a bold and immersive experience.
At the opening reception, guests can take in the show while listening to the fun, funky beats of deejay and musician Ronnie Heart, and enjoying complimentary scoops of ice cream from MELT Ice Creams, Fort Worth’s bespoke ice creamery.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through March 17.
