Praised by critics for possessing a voice of extraordinary beauty, soprano Karen Slack returns to Fort Worth after receiving raves at the 2018 Dinner with the Stars event. Following her performances as Serena in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, she will give a concert of arias, art songs, and spirituals with FWO Artistic Director Joe Illick.

Known for her portrayal of Sister Rose in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, Slack was prominently featured in Tyler Perry’s film and soundtrack For Colored Girls as the Opera Diva. She recently performed the title role in Puccini’s Tosca with Opera Birmingham, and will make her debut with Opera Theatre of St. Louis this summer as Billie in the world premiere of Terence Blanchard and Kasi Lemmons’ Fire Shut Up in My Bones.
