The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation will present the inaugural Books that Cook,  Laura Meyn: Meatless in Cowtown. Meyn coauthored her vegetarian cookbook with wine and spirits expert Anthony Head; it’s filled with vegetarian recipes with a Texas twist — and wine, beer and cocktail pairings, too.

Meyn’s background includes working with high-profile personalities on their cookbooks and contributing to several editorial projects at Bon Appétit magazine. As a graduate of Indiana University who started her career in Los Angeles, Meyn has experienced many different settings across the United States in her vegetarian journey. A Fort Worth resident since 2007, she is dedicated to boosting the voice of vegetarians in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The event will include a discussion between Meyn and colleague June Naylor. Naylor, also a cookbook author, will dive into Meyn’s experience as a vegetarian in Fort Worth and how she has embraced local ingredients and techniques since moving to Texas. Naylor and Meyn will discuss Meatless in Cowtown, and their shared experience in putting cookbooks together.
