Nielsen, Golijov, and Dvořák infused their compositions with folk and dance traditions from their homelands. Nielsen’s Little Suite for Strings combines Scandinavian Romanticism with waltz-like rhythms. Argentine composer Golijov’s Last Round honors the tango, with two quartets exchanging phrases as if caught in a passionate dance. The winds of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra join the strings for Dvořák’s Serenade in D minor, which echoes the fiery rhythms of the Bohemian furiant.
