The opening festival concert spotlights the symphonic music of Leonard Bernstein. Full of both pulsating Latin rhythms and of lyrical and thoroughly romantic music, the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story weaves together many of the most memorable moments and melodies from the celebrated musical. And the “Jeremiah” Symphony, with references in biblical texts, evokes emotional states and illuminates humanity’s struggle to have faith in itself. The concert will highlight Mezzo Soprano, Kelley O'Connor. Miguel Harth-Bedoya will conduct.
