Giant Runt Gallery will present "Meek Drolls," a solo exhibition showcasing the work of Fort Worth-based artist Dizzy Orbit.
For "Meek Drolls," Orbit brings her signature style in the form of crocheted masks, sculpture, photography, painting, and a short film. Orbit has a focus on textiles and fiber art. She is best known for crocheting brightly colored masks that are worn by friends and photographed with the help of collaborating artists.
This process results in pieces that exist simultaneously as fiber sculptures, and wearable garments, and stand alone photographic works. This fluctuation from aesthetic object to functional object and back to aesthetic object reflects Orbit’s interest in things with the ability to move back and forth, between the art world and everyday lives.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through October 31.
