Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will celebrate the Japanese anime genre - films that are visually stunning, richly imaginative, and poetic in their storytelling. This summer's films feature critically acclaimed award winners for Best Animated Feature Film (one Academy Award and two Japanese Academy Awards.)

Dr. Marc Hairston, who was involved in the selection of the films for this series, will introduce and discuss the films at every screening. Dr. Hairston is interested in the scholarly study of anime and manga and is on the board of editors of Mechademia, the first English-language academic journal addressing these topics.

Screening Schedule:

  • August 9: Night Is Short, Walk On Girl
  • August 10, 11 am: Modest Heroes
  • August 10, 12:30 pm: Spirited Away
  • August 10, 2:45 pm: Mirai
