Fort Worth freebies
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is bringing back Art Tales, the museum's annual free summer event for kids and their grown-ups, starting on Wednesday, July 6.
Continuing every Wednesday morning in July, Art Tales is centered around a storytime with special guests from around Dallas-Fort Worth. Taking place from 10 am-12 pm, the event includes gallery games, a chance to create artwork, and performances inspired by artworks in the Carter’s collection.
According to a museum announcement, the initial event on July 6 will feature a performance by Emmy Award-winning musician David Chicken. Performers in subsequent weeks will include musician and educator Brandi Waller-Pace (July 13), oral historian and griot storyteller Decee Cornish (July 20), and improv storyteller Chris EspinosaXYZ (July 27).
Activities at each event will be inspired by different exhibitions at the Carter, including "Stephanie Syjuco: Double Vision" on July 6; "Black Every Day: Photographs from the Carter Collection" on July 13; "Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano" on July 20; and "Justin Ginsberg: Shaking the Shadow" and "Darryl Lauster: Testament" on July 27.
While events are free to attend, the museum requests that attendees register on their website.
