Fort Worth center supports families facing challenges of Alzheimer’s

Compassion and personal experience fueled the establishment of the James L. West Alzheimer’s Center, after Eunice P. West experienced firsthand what it is like for families of Alzheimer’s patients — an experience she gained as caregiver to her husband, philanthropist and business leader James L. West.

The center not only provides care to more than 1,200 residents and participants in day programs, but it also mentors medical professionals on the ins and outs of Alzheimer’s and related forms of dementia.

James L. West Center also focuses on the needs of family members who decide to care for Alzheimer’s patients at home. The center’s Family Caregiver Training program prepares individuals for the daily management and home safety needs of their family member, and helps with planning for the future and dealing with stress and grief.

By supporting the entire family through diagnosis to end-of-life, the center has been an incredible help to residents in North Texas for more than 20 years.
