Country music star kicks in on new Dallas-Fort Worth live music eatery
A new restaurant-bar and live music venue will debut in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in summer 2018 with country music star Randy Rogers behind the wheel.
Rogers, who's lead singer of the Randy Rogers Band, is co-opening ChopShop Live in Roanoke, at 307 S. Oak St., three blocks down from the original Babe's Chicken and one block from Hard Eight BBQ.
He's partnering with Rock Libations, the company owned by Josh Babb and Sean Clavir, who own the similarly-themed ChopShop Sports Garage in Carrollton.
ChopShop Live will host intimate shows with audiences ranging from 250-1200 fans. The menu and overall vibe will be similar to the Carrollton ChopShop.
They chose Roanoke because its location between Dallas and Fort Worth will allow the venue to serve both cities. They also liked the idea of being a part of a community with historical significance.
In a release, Babb says that he and Rogers have been "dear friends" for years.
"When I told him about this project, he immediately asked how he could be involved," Babb says. "Having Randy's expertise to guide us along our first music venue has already proven to be invaluable. Both Sean and myself are so grateful to have him on board."
The space will follow a modern aesthetic with a rustic outdoor area enclosing salvage yard pieces from around the country. Seating will consist of picnic tables. Shipping containers with different themes will be used as private suites for groups of 12 or more.
The menu will feature a scratch kitchen serving family-friendly new American cuisine.
Rock Libations also owns and operates Musume in downtown Dallas' Hall Arts District, Shooters in Victory Park, and Prohibition Chicken in Lewisville.
The Randy Rogers Band will release its ninth studio album in the fall.
Rogers is an owner and partner in numerous projects, including the legendary music venue Cheatham St. Warehouse and New Braunfels' Whitewater Amphitheater; plus the Cleburne Rail Roaders baseball team and River Rose Boutique.
To celebrate the ChopShop Live's grand opening, Rogers will present a concert on Saturday, July 14 at 5 pm, featuring fellow Texan Wade Bowen.
