The latest event cancellations in Dallas-Fort Worth due to coronavirus concerns
As concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus and government restrictions on group gatherings continue, more event cancellations and postponements are being announced every day in Dallas-Fort Worth. In an effort to keep you as up-to-date as possible, we'll compile a list of different announcements every week.
The good news is that new events are on the uptick, so we will soon be able to present the regular weekly events roundup. Still, to be sure you're up to speed, you may want to check with the presenting organization or venue regarding the status of any particular event.
Fort Worth
- Casa Mañana: The theater company's production of Matilda the Musical, originally scheduled to run March 20-April 5 and then rescheduled for July 17-26, has been rescheduled again for October 30-November 8. Shrek the Musical, originally scheduled for April 17-May 10 and then rescheduled for August 7-16, has been rescheduled again for February 5-21, 2021.
- Cody Johnson Throwdown: This concert featuring country singer Cody Johnson and other special guests, scheduled for June 27 at Panther Island Pavilion, has been canceled.
- Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival: The inaugural edition of this festival, scheduled for October 10 at Arts Fifth Avenue, has been rescheduled for March 13, 2021.
- Hip Pocket Theatre: The theater company has canceled all of its remaining 2020 performances except for The Slam Bang Story of Icky Twerp, scheduled September 11-27. The Curmudgeon Boogie (August 7-30), I Go Pogo (August 14-30), and Mega Python vs Gatoroid (October 9-31) will be moved to undetermined dates in the 2021 season.
- Pauly Shore: The appearance by the comedian at Hyena's Fort Worth, scheduled for June 22-26, has been rescheduled for October 8 and 9.
Dallas
- Dallas Summer Musicals: The theater group has rescheduled the engagement of Rent, originally scheduled for April 14-19, for June 18-20, 2021.
- Pauly Shore: The appearance by the comedian at Hyena's Dallas, scheduled for June 24-27, has been rescheduled for October 10 and 11.
Irving
- Mainstage Irving-Las Colinas: The theater company has replaced its production of Disaster! The Musical, originally May 8-23 and then rescheduled for July 17-August 1, with An Act of God, running July 23-August 1.
Plano
Plano Balloon Festival: The annual hot air balloon festival at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, scheduled September 18-20, has been canceled. It will return in 2021.
Richardson
- Anomaly: The Magic of Robby Bennett and Other Curiosities: This magic show at Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts, originally scheduled for April 29 and then rescheduled for July 11, has been rescheduled again for September 18.
- Vocal Majority presents A Million Dreams – The Soundtrack of Our Lives: This concert, scheduled for July 18 and 19 at Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts, has been rescheduled for October 10 and 11.
