WestBend Wonderland
Drink, dance, and be merry at this Fort Worth holiday wonderland
WestBend’s been giving Fort Worth a fun place to gather and shop since it opened last year, and this holiday season is no exception. On December 10, the mixed-used development on the Trinity River hosts WestBend Wonderland, an all-day celebration of all things festive that coincides with the opening of its new Tom Thumb grocery store.
So why should you stop by? Besides its being completely free, here are five can’t-miss reasons for visiting WestBend Wonderland.
1. The incredible entertainment
There will be live music, of course, but also solo artists throughout the day and DJs spinning holiday tunes in the stores. Check your windshield when you leave, because there’s a chance you might find concert tickets or gift cards to WestBend tenants stuck on your windshield if you’re parked in the garage.
2. The awesome goodies
Expect to sip champagne and wine while you stroll, along with craft cocktail samples prepared by HG Sply Co. and served at each store. Mini treatments, styling demos, and short classes also abound. Be sure to pick up your “passport” upon arrival and get stamped at each store you visit: A completed passport enters you to win a special prize package.
3. The fun activities
WestBend is proving its social media savvy by hosting a Hipster Santa contest over Instagram during the event. Show off your stellar beard by having your picture taken at the WestBend table near the Christmas tree beginning at 2 pm. Share your entry and tag your friends to get the most votes (and a $100 WestBend gift card), and prove you believed in Saint Nick before it was cool.
4. The feel-good endeavor
Bring a new, unwrapped toy (or several) to the big tree, and the Fort Worth Margarita Society will work to deliver them to deserving youngsters across Fort Worth.
5. The holiday magic
You’re not imagining it — those are real snowflakes landing on your shoulders. Hourly snowfalls will take place between 2 and 8 pm, because this winter wonderland takes its name seriously.
