Global pop superstar Ed Sheeran sure to draw big numbers in new Mathematics tour opening in Arlington
Global pop superpower Ed Sheeran is no stranger to ridiculous math: He boasts more than 3 billion listens for the hookup anthem “Shape of You” and more than 2 billion streams for the wedding favorite “Thinking out Loud” on Spotify.
The 31-year-old Brit, who has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, is sure to draw equally big numbers when he opens his new, symbol-laden “+ - = ÷ x” Tour (pronounced “The Mathematics Tour”) in Arlington on May 6, 2023 at AT&T Stadium, in a move that secures major bragging rights for Texas Sheeran fans.
Ticket registration for the tour is now open online and runs through 9 pm Sunday, October 9. Verified presale through Ticketmaster is set to run from 10 am Wednesday, October 12 through Thursday, October 13; general public ticket sales start at 10 am Friday, October 14.
Sheeran’s stop comes after his record-breaking "Divide Tour” in 2018, which officially became the most-attended and highest-grossing tour of all time. The multiple Grammy winner will be joined by multi-platinum artist Khalid, rapper/singer-songwriter Russ, Dylan, Cat Burns, Maisie Peters, and Rosa Linn on select dates of the tour, which wraps on September 23at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The Mathematics Tour is the first trek to support “=,” Sheeran’s newest album that unsurprisingly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — his fourth album to do so, for those keeping score. Standout singles include “Bad Habits,” and follow-up hit “Shivers.”
A mainstay on TV and now movies, Sheeran made a memorable appearance in the Beatles-inspired film Yesterday, scored a cameo as a Lannister soldier in the HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones, and two uncredited roles in Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
Fans can catch the singer-songwriter on the small screen this week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on October 13, and Good Morning America the next day on October 14.
