Burleson golfers can now get swinging at a buzzy new venue: Called 1611 Golf, it’s an indoor golf simulator that just opened in a former Dollar General at 224 E. Renfro St., where it opened in early December.
1611 Golf, named after a Bible scripture, was founded by golf coaches Aaron Adair and BJ Warren, who opened the flagship in Fort Worth in 2017. Their goal was to have a venue for competitive golfers and “weekend golfers” looking to have fun, and also create a place where golf could be played regardless of the weather, complete with a practice range and course play of 300 courses.
The golf venue uses Trackman, a simulator and ball tracking technology developed by Danish golfers in 2003. It also uses software mimicking real golf courses, and Adair says they chose it because "they’ve always been a big name with professional golf and number one with giving distances and data."
In addition to 1611, there are 15 other golf simulators and venues in the Fort Worth area using Trackman, and more across the state. Indoor golf is a big trend right now.
The Burleson location features eight bays, each with a putting green and a screen. Bays can be played as an individual or groups of three, with every player getting an hour, or less if they'd like, to play 18 holes for $60 an hour. They also offer monthly memberships.
“A majority of our people are new to golf or just getting into golf, or at a point where they just enjoy the entertainment factor," Warren says. "It’s really open to anybody.”
For more competitive golfers, they also have 35 leagues between the locations that play against each other in two-man teams to compete for the top two champion spots. The first tournament was hosted in April against a league in Florida.
Both Fort Worth and Burleson locations have similar layouts, but Burleson also has a conference room that can be rented and four TVs — "like what you would see in a basketball arena viewing type setup with chairs around the putting green," Warren says — in the public lounge area.
Other amenities include a kitchen and full bar with a menu of upscale bar bites and appetizers, pizzas, salads, as well as wine, beer, and cocktails. Everything on the menu is under $30.
"When we got into our Fort Worth location we started looking at target areas that have a lot of similarities to our current membership," Warren says. "Burleson came up on the radar as one of the places we narrowed it down to. We decided a small town feel was something we wanted to look for since Fort Worth was a much larger area.”
Burleson is but a small step in the 1611 empire: Adair and Warren are opening a third location in North Richland Hills at 6001 Parker Blvd., in a former party store, in mid-2025.
