This weekend in and around Fort Worth will feature an abundance of theater, including two different festivals and four other local productions. Other choices include four concerts (including a huge three-night stay at JerryWorld), screenings of an acclaimed film, the return of an annual Halloween event, and a symphony concert featuring the most recent Cliburn gold medalist.

Thursday, September 10
Chris Brown and Usher in concert
R&B singers Chris Brown and Usher come to Arlington as part of their The R&B Tour. The double-meaning tour - referring both to their genre of music and their last names of Raymond and Brown - pairs two artists who have been at or near the top of their genre for a long time, with Brown going to either No. 1 or No. 2 on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop chart with each of his 11 albums, and Usher doing same with seven of his nine albums. Brown is touring in support of his new album, B.R.O.W.N., while Usher's most recent album was Coming Home in 2024. They'll perform at AT&T Stadium on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
SheDFW Summer Theater Festival
The 2026 SheDFW Summer Theater Festival features the works of Texas-based and national women, trans, and non-binary playwrights and composers. The event will present three new full-length works: the musical Battle Crown: The Legend of Princess Pink, Hamill, TX., and The Other Side of the Shore. Each production will be presented multiple times during the festival, which runs through Sunday at Stage West Theatre.
Hip Pocket Theatre presents Soul Notes From the Velvet Elk (A Place Of Wild Surrender)
Soul Notes From the Velvet Elk (A Place Of Wild Surrender) takes a trip into the electric landscape of the unpredictable and soulfully steps through the doors of The Velvet Elk. See the sky again, rest in the vastness of the beat, and seek what’s most original and true. The production runs through September 27 at Hip Pocket Theatre.
Louie TheSinger in concert
Proud of his Texas roots and his Mexican heritage, Louie TheSinger grew up in the streets of Fort Worth and spent time in prison, where he vowed to change course. Upon his release, he put all his focus on family and on creating and performing music his own way. He'll play at Billy Bob's Texas in support of his 2025 album, One for the Hometown.

Fort Worth Fringe Festival
Theatre Network of Texas, Inc. will present 10 acts for the 10th Annual International Fort Worth Fringe Festival. The performances will include a variety of performing arts, including dance, magic, theater, and poetry/spoken word. Each production will play at least twice over the course of the three-day event, which takes place at Stolen Shakespeare Guild through Sunday.
Magnolia at the Modern: Tony
In Tony, a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa, The Holdovers) travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life. Based on the early chapters of Bourdain’s memoir, Kitchen Confidential (2000), the coming-of-age story also stars Antonio Banderas, Emilia Jones, Stavros Halkias, and Leo Woodall. There will be seven screenings through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Six Flags Over Texas presents Fright Fest
Halloween season gets rolling a little more with Six Flags Over Texas' Fright Fest, which features five haunted mazes, six outdoor scare zones, multiple live shows, and Halloween-themed food and beverages to celebrate the fall season. The 2026 lineup includes Doc Varnum’s Hybrid Hell Pit, The Conjuring Universe, The Strangers: No Escape, SAW: Legacy of Terror, EverSmile Industries, and Terror at the Polynesian Palm. Fright Fest takes place on weekends through November 1.
Theatre Denton presents When Hitchcock Met Addams
When Hitchcock Met Addams is a darkly whimsical comedy that imagines an unlikely - and hilarious - encounter between two of pop culture’s most iconic figures: Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense, and Charles Addams, the creator of the delightfully macabre Addams Family. The play examines an unexamined friendship and pays tribute to both creators’ legacies. This special presentation, a fundraiser for Theatre Denton, will have three performances through Sunday.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents "Beethoven's Fifth"
The opening four notes of Beethoven’s famous Fifth Symphony etched a permanent rhythm onto humanity’s consciousness. After those stormy opening notes, Beethoven leads listeners from a struggle with fate to a radiant victory through his music in one of classical music’s most triumphant works. To open the program, FWSO Music Director Robert Spano conducts another dramatic work by Beethoven, the Egmont Overture, before the 2025 Van Cliburn Piano Competition winner Aristo Sham plays Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23. There will be three performances through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall. (The Friday night performance is followed by a ticketed Opening Night Celebration.)
Pecos & the Rooftops in concert
Named in part for the rooftop they often hung out on, Pecos & the Rooftops got its start in 2019, when the four original members met attending college in Lubbock. The area has long been known for its alt-country scene, but Pecos & the Rooftops are at the forefront of a new country rock scene. They'll play at Billy Bob's Texas in support of their 2025 album, From Me.

Casa Mañana presents Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations
Ain’t Too Proud tells the true story of The Temptations, five men who followed their dreams from the streets of Detroit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the jukebox musical, audiences will learn how they met, became famous, and how personal and political conflicts threatened to tear the group apart. The story plays out to the tune of their top hits, including “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” and more. The production runs through September 20 at Casa Mañana.
Josh Turner in concert
Country singer Josh Turner came out of the gates running on his debut in 2003, scoring a top 3 album with Long Black Train, and he hasn't slowed down since. All but one of his next seven albums made the top 3 on the Billboard Country charts thanks to a string of hit songs, including "Your Man," "Would You Go With Me?," "Why Don't We Just Dance?," and "Hometown Girl." Turner has released 10 albums in his career, most recently This Country Music Thing in 2024. He'll play at Billy Bob's Texas.
Sunday, September 13
Theatre TCU presents Stethoscope Stage
Stethoscope Stage, presented by Theatre TCU and Burnett School of Medicine, features a staged reading of monologues and short plays exploring the hot-button topic of body image, health, and GLP-1 use. The performance will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A facilitated by academic and health professionals. The production takes place at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.
2025 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Aristo Sham will perform with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Bass Performance Hall, September 11-13.
