This weekend around Fort Worth will feature one big event - in addition to the ongoing Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo - and a bunch of smaller ones. The national tour of a Broadway musical is the headliner, followed by four concerts, two comedians, screenings of an acclaimed film, and the closings of two art exhibitions.

Broadway at the Bass: The Lion King
In Disney's The Lion King, giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap, and the entire Serengeti comes to life as never before. A story filled with hope and adventure set against an amazing backdrop of stunning visuals, the production features some of Broadway’s most recognizable music, crafted by Elton John and Tim Rice. The production runs through January 29 at Bass Performance Hall.

Magnolia at the Modern: The Son
The Son centers on Peter (Hugh Jackman), whose hectic life with his infant and new partner Beth (Vanessa Kirby) is upended when his ex-wife Kate (Laura Dern) appears with their son, who is now a teenager. The young man has been missing from school for months and is troubled, distant, and angry. Peter strives to take care of Nicholas as he would have liked his own father to have taken care of him, but by reaching for the past to correct its mistakes, he loses sight of how to hold onto the Nicholas in the present. The film will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Jack Ingram in concert
Over the past 25+ years, country singer Jack Ingram has become such a big part of the Texas music landscape that he's even teamed up with two other Texas celebrities — former UT football coach Mack Brown and actor Matthew McConaughey — for an annual fundraiser event in Austin. He's also released 11 albums in his career, most recently 2021's The Marfa Tapes, a collaboration with Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall. He'll play at Tannahill's Tavern & Music Hall.
Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Auditorium Concert Series: Brian Regan
Comedian Brian Regan comes to town as part of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo's Auditorium Concert Series. Setting a comedic standard of excellence that others continually try to follow, Regan is a unique comedian whose material is relatable to generations of fans and revered by comedians as one of the best in the business. He'll perform at Will Rogers Auditorium.
Hyena's presents Billy D. Washington
Billy D. Washington is a witty, philosophical, piano-playing comedian who works as a nationally recognized headliner. Washington is not only talented musically, but he possesses an incredible ability to create cleverly constructed jokes and improvise obscure audience situations. He'll perform four times through Saturday at Hyena's in downtown Fort Worth.
Jon Wolfe in concert
There are a lot of big-time stars who grace the stage at Billy Bob's Texas, but just as often they showcase talented and hard-working musicians with smaller but loyal fanbases. Jon Wolfe has six albums to his credit, most recently 2021's Dos Corazones, and only one of them — 2015's Natural Man — made any kind of impact on the Billboard Country charts. But you can expect the venue to be packed once again for him, as he's a regular in Fort Worth.

The Great Divide in concert
A testament to the enduring power of music, Red Dirt group The Great Divide has been around for nearly 30 years despite the fact that they have rarely broken out of the Oklahoma/Texas region. The band has released nine albums over 28 years, most recently 2022's Providence. They'll play at Tannahill's Tavern & Music Hall.
Ian Munsick in concert
Rising country star Ian Munsick, who hails from Wyoming, is bringing the "Western" back to country. With influences ranging from bluegrass to the Beatles, Munsick has brought his own unique sound to the genre since debuting with the 2021 album, Coyote Cry. In advance of his second album, White Buffalo, which is due out in April, he'll play at Billy Bob's Texas.

Amon Carter Museum of American Art closings
Sunday will be the final day to view two exhibitions focused on Native Americans at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. "Speaking with Light: Contemporary Indigenous Photography" is the the first major museum survey to explore the practices of Indigenous photographers working today, and "Faces from the Interior: The Native American Portraits of Karl Bodmer" features over 60 recently conserved watercolors by Bodmer, including portraits of individuals from the Omaha, Ponca, Yankton, Lakota, Mandan, Hidatsa, Assiniboine and Blackfoot nations.
The Lion King will be at Bass Performance Hall through January 29.
