Hip Dallas boutique moseys west to Sundance Square for new location

A Dallas-based boutique is heading west to downtown Fort Worth. Demerara will open up shop at 404 Houston Street, in Sundance Square, this summer.
The 1,660-square-foot store will feature women’s and men’s fashion apparel and accessories designed and manufactured locally. It's the second location for Demerara, which also has a storefront in Dallas' West Village. The clothing line is made in Plano.
“This will be the go-to destination for the consumer who enjoys current trends as the owner, Cassie Ganesh, designs and manufacturers to local styles,” Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square, says in a release.
No opening date is being given yet, but when doors open in coming months, customers will find a well-edited mix of men’s fashion items that will include outerwear, shirts, and pants. In 2016, Demerera launched a men’s collection with Dallas Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea. The Demerara X J.J. Barea collection features casual menswear.
For women, there will be dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, athletic wear, tops, bottoms, outerwear, and swimsuits. Texas-born and -bred sisters Cassie and Andrea Ganesh made a splash when they rolled out a sultry swimsuit line in 2014. They also created a collection of men's and women's graphic tees called The D.
“Being a Carswell Air Force Base brat, I am beyond excited to expand our second location into Fort Worth,” Cassie Ganesh says in a release. “Since starting the company in 2011, we’ve transformed from traditional boutique retailer into a vertically-integrated apparel company, proudly designing and manufacturing right here in the heart of Texas. Managing daily operations at my factory has enabled me to turn production in one week, and I look forward to showing Fort Worth a steady stream of contemporary fashion.”
Unlike other boutiques, Demerara also provides custom design services based on a client’s fashion preferences and size and offers complimentary alterations on all apparel purchases. Garments are manufactured in limited quantities, guaranteeing customers exclusive additions to their wardrobe, the company says.
