Toys R Us makes comeback with new store at Grapevine Mills mall

Toys "R" Us
A beloved toy store is making a comeback: Toys "R" Us, the chain selling toys, games, electronics, and gear, has opened a store at Grapevine Mills, the outlet mall in Grapevine, at 3000 Grapevine Mills Pkwy., near the Legoland entrance.
Located in the former Skechers spot near Converse and Levi’s, the store is slightly smaller than the old-school Toys “R” Us but it's still a not-too-shabby 13,000-square-foot space. (Skechers relocated to another storefront in the mall.)
According to a release, the store opened in mid-September, "just ahead of the holiday season," welcoming families back to relive the nostalgia as they explore aisles filled with the latest must-have toys alongside timeless classics.
The opening is part of a revival for the company, which shut down as part of a bankruptcy in 2018. They were acquired by WHP Global Brands, who started opening smaller shops open inside malls (including Galleria Dallas where there's a location inside the Macy's) and airports.
Now in a partnership with Go Retail Group, they're mounting a comeback, opening 10 stores plus 20 seasonal holiday shops including Mall of America in Minneapolis, Harlem Irving Plaza in Illinois, Tanger Outlets in Texas, Great Lakes Crossing in Michigan, and Chicago Premium Outlets in Illinois.
Toys "R" Us began in 1948 as a baby furniture store by Charles Lazarus, then became a toy store and was purchased by Interstate Department Stores in 1966. The brand is celebrating its largest growth year yet, now spanning more than 1,500 stores and e-commerce businesses across 35+ countries.
The stores sells Legos, Hot Wheels, Barbie dolls, Toys "R" Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe, games, crayons, stuffed animals, plushie toys, collectibles, books, arts & crafts, and more for children of all ages.
"Whether shoppers are experiencing the store for the first time or simply want to revisit a cherished part of their childhood, the new Toys "R" Us at Grapevine Mills offers a fresh destination for families to enjoy together," the release says.
