Horse lover's ranch north of Fort Worth trots onto market for $20 million
A 127-acre Denton County ranch that’s on the market for nearly $20 million is an equestrian’s dream.
Among other amenities, Furst Ranch, at 1157 W. Jeter Rd. in the hamlet of Bartonville, features a 28-stall horse barn, a covered horse arena, and a flag plaza with a bronze statue of a mare and foal. But even if you’re not a horse enthusiast, the ranch still has plenty to offer.
The centerpiece is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom main house with a two-car garage. The 6,600-square-foot, lodge-style house has split-beam stairs, antler chandeliers, and a floor-to-ceiling rock fireplace.
“It’s really the prime piece of real estate in southern Denton County because of the elevation of where the house is built,” says Kim Hunter of Keller Williams DFW Southlake, who has the listing with Brad Johnson of Johnson Land and Home LLC.
From the balcony of the master bedroom, you can see the water tower in nearby Flower Mound and miles of rolling topography, according to Hunter.
Other highlights of the main house include a terrace with a pool, spa, and fire pit; a putting green; a theater; and a wrap-around porch.
“When you walk in, it’s like walking into a really high-end lodge in Montana or Aspen,” Hunter says.
The main house originally was built in 1974 by one of the daughters of famous evangelist the Rev. Billy Graham, records show. In 1999, the current owners, Jack and Debra Furst, redid the house in its current style.
The ranch also includes a 2,500-square-foot executive retreat, a two-bedroom artist’s cottage, a 1,400-square-foot foreman’s house, a boulder-dotted stream, ponds, hundreds of mature oak trees, and a gated entry.
Hunter says several prospective buyers already have toured the property, which has been on the market about two weeks. The list price is $19,995,000. The Fursts have owned the ranch, which specializes in world-class cutting horses, for nearly 30 years.
“It’s really a beautiful place,” Hunter says.
Whoever buys Furst Ranch will be in good company. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former CEO of ExxonMobil, also owns an equestrian ranch in Bartonville.
