House For Sale
Historic Fort Worth estate on iconic Elizabeth Boulevard is for sale
One of the most historic estates in Fort Worth is going on the market: Known as the Dulaney House, it's located on Fort Worth's iconic Elizabeth Boulevard, a charming thoroughfare dating back to the city's earliest days and known for its well-preserved early 20th-century architecture.
Located at 1001 Elizabeth Blvd., the home has opened its doors over the years to designer showhouses, historic home tours, and the pages of high-profile magazines, and is considered the Crown Jewel of Elizabeth Boulevard.
The estate was originally commissioned by R.O. Dulaney, president of Planet Petroleum Company and a prominent businessman who also owned the Sinclair and Petroleum buildings in downtown Fort Worth.
Designed by famed architect Wyatt C. Hedrick in 1921, the two-story rectangular structure was thought to be inspired by a Florentine villa, and many materials were imported from Italy including a stone fireplace that was hand-carved by artisans, also from Italy, on site.
That Italian Renaissance influence shines through features such as the green terra cotta spiral columns that line the facade, and liberal use of marble including marble flooring in the entry.

The property has 5,750 square feet, with five bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, multiple living areas, media room, and a 784-square-foot multipurpose finished basement.
An elevated entry is grand, with front-end bays which flank a roof-terraced arcaded portico. Arcade floor length windows (originally double doors) open to a balustraded terrace which wraps around the front and side.
Other highlights include:
- A trompe l’oeil ceiling painting of the sky in the dining room which brings in a sense of the outdoors, enhanced by the property's plentiful windows
- Carved stone fireplace anchoring the expansive living room
- Romeo & Juliet-style balcony
- Babbling fountain in the enclosed porch
There are fountains inside and out, a sunken garden, pergolas, and a stately pool added by the current owner. There's also a secret doorway off the kitchen that leads into a pantry with a set of stairs for the servants' area. Fun!
The house will go on the market on September 26, and is listed with Magnolia Realty for $2.8 million.
“This home has always had a special place in my heart,” says listing agent Barbie Armenta. “My grandparents lived just blocks away, and as a Fort Worth native, I’ve admired this home since I was a child. Now, it’s an honor to help share its next chapter.”
