Powerhouse agent Ashley Mooring’s affinity for all things home isn’t just about artfully connecting people to extraordinary properties and lifestyles — it also extends to remodeling, space management, architecture, and design. In this way, she is able to help her clients buy and sell homes with a holistic and seamless approach.
Having worked in the Fort Worth market for more than 15 years, she has specialized knowledge of the central classic neighborhoods in addition to the downtown urban areas and surrounding suburbs.
Mooring offered up a few of her personal favorites about life in Southwest Fort Worth. Here's her guide to the area:
Where to eat & drink
Mooring suggests Quince in Riverside for an upscale-casual dining experience and the bistro Le Margot for French meals.
Cheer on the TCU Horned Frogs or Dallas Cowboys at Rex's Bar & Grill, which is lined with TVs and even offers live music some evenings. Craving pizza? Buffalo Bros. serves up pies, wings, and ice-cold beer, along with even more TVs broadcasting sports.
Local Foods Kitchen is the destination for freshly made meals and during the week, a quick swing by Eatzi's means lunch or dinner is sorted thanks to its salads, sandwiches, and prepared dinners to take home.
For surf favorites (and a solid weekend brunch), head to Pacific Table — and for turf, it’s Silver Fox steakhouse for her.
Jon’s Grille is the place for burgers; they come in two sizes — fatty and flatty! You can also indulge in brisket and other barbecue staples there, but don’t skip the Best Maid Fried Pickles.
Where to play
“Walk the trails from Woodshed Smokehouse to Press Cafe,” says Mooring. Grab a bite at one or both places for a progressive dining experience.
She also recommends Courtside Kitchen, a restaurant and pickleball facility where you can also find live music, cornhole, a putting green, and more. Little kiddos will love riding the Forest Park Miniature Railroad, which has been chugging along since the 1950s in Trinity Park.
Another form of exercise is offered at The Exercise Coach, where you can fit in customized strength and resistance training in just 20-minute sessions.
Scratch the shopping itch at The Shops at Clearfork, which also hosts family-friendly events such as pop-up markets and holiday celebrations. Find all the designer brands, including YSL, Gucci, and Tiffany's there.
For fashion that's a little more local, Mooring recommends The Squire Shop for menswear and Monkee's for stylish women's clothing — and they're right next door to each other!
In addition, Colonial Country Club is a favored destination for golf as well as neighborhood events: think Fourth of July fireworks celebrations, Easter egg hunts, and summer luaus by the pool.
What to see
During football season, watching the TCU Horned Frogs play a home game at Amon G. Carter Stadium is a must.
Where to live
"The beautiful thing about neighborhoods in Southwest Fort Worth, like Colonial Hills, is that they're abounding in sophisticated grace," says Mooring. "Between the stunning homes — from traditional two-story beauties to Tudor-style charmers — and the generous lots as well as the abundance of trees, the area feels like a haven that’s also convenient to Fort Worth attractions."
