To answer the question on everyone's mind, yes, Abe Froman's at the new Food Hall at Crockett Row is named after Matthew Broderick's alias in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which owner and chef Victor Villarreal admits to having watched "about a thousand times."
But unlike the sausage king of Chicago, this Abe Froman specializes in pizza, gnocchi, charcuterie, and cheese.
It's all local and made from scratch, says Villarreal, who is excited to join the melange of cuisines, chefs, and specialties at the food hall.
Watch him discuss the inspiration for this new venture in the video above, then track down the infamous Abe for yourself in Fort Worth.
