Hill Country pizzeria Inferno's slings spicy pizza spinoff in Fort Worth
A pizza restaurant from Texas' Hill Country is opening a location in Fort Worth. It's called Inferno's Pizzeria, and it's going in at 629 Stayton St., in one of the ground-floor retail spaces at the Lofts at Alta Leftbank building.
According to a spokesperson, the restaurant will open sometime in the next few weeks.
Inferno's was founded in Central Texas by Cary Hamer, an F&B veteran who previously owned concepts such as Bikinis and Hooters. Desiring a more family-oriented concept, he opened the first Inferno's in Gruene in 2013.
Inferno's serves New York-style thin-crust pizzas, strombolis, salads, and appetizers. They make their sauces from scratch and their own dough every day.
Sauces include regular, basil pesto, tangy BBQ, olive oil & garlic, and Scorpion pepper pizza sauce.
They're known for their fiery Scorpion pepper, which Hamer procured and trademarked as a way to set Inferno's apart. In addition to the pizza sauce, they add it to their sausage and even their bloody Mary.
Pizzas are 14-inch and come in some fun varieties beyond the classic Margherita, including a "Big Mac" which is just as it sounds: two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, and onions but on a pizza crust.
There's a pizza with pulled pork and mac & cheese, and another with bacon and chicken drizzled with ranch dressing. Scandalous.
You can also get gluten-free pizza and a 12-inch "flatbread" style.
A quintet of sandwiches includes a Philly cheesesteak, sliders, a Reuben, and a Cuban that places all of the classic ingredients of a Cuban — ham, pork, provolone — on a grilled flatbread.
Salads are plentiful: Caesar, wedge, spinach & bacon, Caprese, Greek feta, and pasta salad. Other items include spaghetti & meatballs, bruschetta, jalapeno poppers stuffed with chorizo, a pizza roll, and pizza "chips": Pizza dough drizzled with olive oil and baked with garlic and mozzarella, served with a side of marinara.
Hamer always had expansion in mind and opened a second location in Boerne in February 2019, followed by a third in the Dallas area, in Princeton, in June 2019. The same team that opened the Princeton branch is opening the one in Fort Worth.
