Beloved Fort Worth restaurant Cat City Grill to close after 15 years

Cat City Grill
A beloved Fort Worth restaurant is closing its doors: Cat City Grill, a neighborhood favorite located at 1208 W. Magnolia Ave., will close at the end of September, after more than 15 years.
Owners Martin and Denise Thompson said it was just "time for a change," stating "What a ride it has been…"
The restaurant will close on September 28.
"After 15 and a half years it is time to call it quits," Martin said. "Over 37 years in the service industry I’ve had enough and it’s time for a change."
The couple didn't name one reason, stating that there were "so many factors in our decision to close. Just know that this was the hardest decision we have had to make."
Martin opened Cat City Grill in July 2009 partnered with chef Vance Martin, on the forefront of a restaurant expansion on West Magnolia Avenue. It went on to become a Magnolia Avenue institution — a Cheers-like hangout and happy hour favorite for many fans.
They hosted many customer-friendly weeknight offerings, from taco nights to nightly specials — always with crowd-pleasing specials like bacon grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup, patty melt on Texas toast, and chicken Marechiare with mussels & shrimp, marechiara being one of Italy's lesser-known tomato sauces, specifically associated with Naples, and served with seafood.
They thanked their staff — including chef Osman Suarez, and to the employees they saw graduate high school, college, start families, and so on; as well as their customers and the relationships they forged.
The couple said they were looking forward to spending more time together, and also not having to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
"Sunday September 28th will be last day of service — we hope to see as many familiar faces as possible between now and then," they said.
